Outstanding Futsal achievement for both teams

Football Focus entered U14 and U15 teams, in Campbelltown's 2011 competition, with all players playing a year above their age group. Our U14s finished runners up in their league; only two of them had played futsal before. Our U15s also made the finals with two players selected for SA state teams: Jordon Hayhurst (vice captain U14) and Pran Gabrynowicz (captain U15). Well done lads!

Concept4Football inaugural visit a success

50 players attended the first Concept4Football program in Adelaide during the July school holidays.

The first Adelaide C4F clinic was a huge success with players and coaches having a ball despite the chilly winter weather. Gwynne Berry and Lewis Goater, Reading FC Academy Coach, were delighted with the attendance and pleased to see progression in all players through the program. 'Titch' joins Socceroos at Adelaide Oval

Prematch entertainment: Supporters v Local Heroes.

Nestled between the trees outside the main entrance of Adelaide Oval, 'Titch' joined Socceroos supporters for the Australia verses New Zealand international match. With the fabulous backdrop of Adelaide Oval and

St Peter's Cathedral, supporters joined in some prematch fun playing alongside local heroes Adelaide United.

'Titch' puts in a marquee appearance for United.

Reds fans enjoyed playing against their favourite Adelaide United players at this years members day. Small sided games enabled fans of all ages to try out their skills and score against their heros at this fun family event.

A big difference from previous events was the very popular huge inflatable football pitch, 'Titch', putting in a marquee appearance. Big Red was determined not to miss out on the action displaying some superb goal keeping skills.

Football Focus was delighted to extend our support to United and looks forward to contributing to future events.

Concept4Football partnership
Football Focus has forged a partnership with Concept4Football, a professional technical coaching programme designed specifically for youth players.

Founded by Gwynne Berry, Academy Coach at West Ham United FC, the programme has been successfully developed with Premier League Elite Academy players and is now being delivered worldwide.
We are extremely excited to be working with Gwynne and further stenghthen our ties with Europe. Watch out for Gwynne and his team visiting Adelaide mid 2011.

Academy competition success

Building on 2009s futsal success the Football Focus Academy entered two competitions this summer, futsal at Campbelltown and Twilight Soccer, reaching the futsal grand final.

Unfortunately they were beaten to the trophy but we are still very proud of their achievements; although the players train together year round they all play in different teams during the season. The mid week twilight tournament was an ideal ground to practice phases of play for the weekend futsal tournament. Well done all; we look forward to further success in 2011.

Phoenix Cup soccer tournament

Football Focus supports community tournament
The Phoenix Cup, a 7-a-side soccer tournament in its second year, is specifically organised to provide people with disabilities the chance to participate in the World Game. Eight teams of players with various intellectual, physical disabilities and sensory impairments competed in the round robin tournament played in Football Focus’ inflatable soccer field, ‘The Pitch’.

Organised by Modbury Jets Amateur Soccer Club, the Phoenix Cup is a fabulous display of community spirit and sportsmanship in a fun filled day of football. Congratulations to all teams!

In addition to our many international links Director of Football, Jason Hayhurst, continues as Director of Junior Coaching at MetroStars SC for a second year. Jason continues to implement the FFA National Curriculum and is also coaching the MetroStars 2011 Manchester United Premier Cup squad.
After a successful 2010 season culminating in an intercol win over arch rivals St Peters College, 2011 preseason training has started for the Prince Alfred College (PAC) First XI squad. Jason is Coach for the PAC first team and Soccer Coordinator at PAC.
